Key Forest Officer, DSP Arrested Over Bribery Charges


Kolkata: The Anti-Corruption Bureau of Kolkata police on Saturday evening nabbed a key forest officer and one of its own officers over corruption charges.

Alankar Jha, additional PCCP (Principal Chief Conservator of Forests) has been arrested along with a DSP named as Subhashish Chakraborty of the anti-corruption bureau of West Bengal police.

Sources said that Jha who was suspended for the last 18 months for his alleged role in Darjeeling Zoo scam, has bribed the DSP and another officer of the ACB probing the case.

However, the police got some inputs and started monitoring the activities of its own officer and finally nabbed the duo today.

This is one of the major arrests after Rajpal Singh Kahalon, port chairman few months back. And first arrest of ACB official in corruption charges.
