Kolkata: The film festival, which is normally held between November 10 and 17, will take place between November 14 and 21 this year as Kali Puja is on November 10. According to sources, apart from Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, who have been regulars at the Kolkata film festival, other Khans may make their KIFF debut this year.
To keep all controversies at bay, the festival authority wants two third of the jury members to be from overseas. Other than the international category of competition for the women directors, there will be competitions for the Asian category as well. There will be screening of international cinema in the non-competition category. A film not selected for the competition can be screened in this category. For green-horns, there will be a new-horizon category for promising new directors.
There will be a special screening of exceptional documentaries and experimental features. Indian language films and Bengali panorama will have separate categories. Special tributes will be organized for master film-makers along with films on children, literature, music and sports.
