Kolkata: Narada CEO Mathew Samuel on Wednesday said before CBI that Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar’s claim of money return is incorrect in Narada scam. Earlier, CBI paid to visit to TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar’s Madhyamgram residence for further interrogation in connection with the Narada probe.
She was on Thursday summoned by the CBI in connection with Narada sting case. However, she failed to appear citing personal commitments and requested the officials to interrogate her in her residence.
Sources report that Kakoli’s statement was recorded and was questioned in aid of the unedited footage of the sting operation. Dastidar was seen accepting Rs 5 lakhs as bribe from Narada News CEO Mathew Samuel. CBI officials recently came across the fact that it was another TMC MP Sultan Ahmed who had sent Samuel to Dastidar.
CBI questioned the amount and means of expenditure of the money received from Mathew. She was also asked about any other financial assistance from Samuel apart from what was revealed in the footage. Mathew and Dastidar’s statements will be cross-checked in due course.
However, later in the day she refuted all reports of CBI visiting her residence. Bengal BJP President Dilip Ghosh took a jibe at the visit saying that when leaders fail to give appearances, CBI is at their service.
