Kakdwip Rape: Protests Continue & Bandh Called Today

Canning: A 24 hour bandh has been called on Monday after the rape of a minor at Kakdwip two days ago. The local residents have begun the protest on Saturday by not releasing the body of the raped and murdered girl for final rituals. The unrest continues still now, with the body still not being released by the Kakdwip protesters. The situation at Kakdwip still hasn’t returned to normal, the protest for not registering a case of rape is in continuation.

The Family of the victim and the villagers demand in their protest, that the police should arrest all the criminals, and won’t release the body for last rituals until and unless police arrest all the killers.

According to police sources, investigating began on Sunday by registering a case of Rape. Till now they have made one arrest. The arrested has accepted to have committed the crime. Blood stained clothes have been found from his house. The clothes have been send for forensic test. The police have begun interrogating the arrested killer for tracking further information regarding the heinous crime.

On Friday evening, the deceased resident of Haripur in KaKdwip had gone for her Madhyamik exam Tuitions near Kakdwip Hospital crossing. When her mother came to pick her up from tuition, she was told that her daughter has already returned home. The mother began searching for her daughter when she was not present at home also. Later at night the nude body of the girl was found in Subashnagar Village. The police have arrested a youth named Gopal Hazra from Subashnagar On Saturday.
