After JU, students demand removal of ViswaBharati VC

Bolpur: After Jadavpur, a part of students, teachers, and non teaching staff have started protesting in demand of the resignation of the Vice Chancellor of ViswaBharati University.

The protesters have also demanded the internal reservation along with the termination of the VC. On Tuesday there was a total halt in the normal working procedure of the university.

The protesters have warned that if their demands are not heeded, they would go for protest in a larger aspect. They have called for an indefinite strike at the University from Thursday.

The protest is being organized mainly by the students of Path Bhaban and their guardians. They have been supported by the worker’s forum of the University, the Teacher’s forum, Official’s forum and the Professor’s forum. MP Anupam Hazra and Professor of Social Science at the University have stated that the protest will be receiving full support. Contrary to the Jadavpur incident where the Government took the side of the VC, in VishwaBharati, the TMC MP has supported the students’ demand.

The Trinammol MP said, “I am giving moral support to the protesters. The VC should have talked with the protesters. The protest had stopped after his assurance. Now why he is playing Hide and seek is unknown. I am with the protest.”

To evade protests, the VC had shifted the working committee meeting to Kolkata. Stopping of the Internal quota was discussed in the meeting. Now the protesters have alleged corruptions at the University and have started demanding the removal of the VC.
