Journalist Shot Dead in Uttar Pradesh


Lucknow: In yet another strike against media, a 45 year old journalist Hemant Singh Yadav was fatally shot on Saturday evening by unknown gunman in Dhanpur police jurisdiction of Chandrauli district in Uttar Pradesh.

Police told media on Sunday that Yadav who hailed from Ahikora was returning home with cattle food from Kamlapur on his bike when the incident took place.

Eye witnesses saw two men flee the crime scene after the villagers heard gathered hearing the gun shot. Some villagers told that Hemant was stopped by the assailants first, and upon a brief conversation, one of them shot him. As per several media reports, villagers took Yadav to the nearest hospital where he was declared dead.
