Journalist attacked in Murshidabad

Murshidabad: There seems to be a desperate attempt to curb the freedom of the press in the state. After a Journalist was kidnapped in North Bengal for reporting against the vested interests of the Trinamool Congress, now a photojournalist named Dipak Chatterjee, journalist (1)associated with a National media was attacked by miscreants in Dohalia area under Kandi Police Station in the Murshidabad district.

It has been known that he was thrown to the ground and mercilessly beaten up when he went in the area to collect news. His camera was broken and he was threatened with dire consequences. Chatterjee was admitted to Kandi Sub-divisional hospital in a critical condition. The family members of the journalist have lodged a complaint in this regard with the Kandi police station. Police have started an investigation into the incident although no one has been arrested so far in the incident.

On the other hand, till now there has been no reports regarding the whereabouts of journalist Chayan Sarkar who was abducted on Sunday from Jalpaiguri in North Bengal.
