Srinagar: An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists on Saturday morning at Chattabal area of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. As per reports, two to three terrorists were holed up inside a house in the area. The area has been cordoned off by security forces, reports said. Reportedly, clashes also broke out between protestors and security forces close to the encounter site. Internet services have also been suspended in the area, sources said.
A heavy exchange of fire has been reported from the encounter spot. Meanwhile, two bullet-ridden bodies were found in Shahgund Hajin in the state’s Bandipore district. Sources said that the two deceased have been identified as civilians. They added the police was investigating the cause of death and that they suspected militants to have killed the two people.
A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan was on Saturday injured after an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Chhatabal area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar, news agency reported.
As per initial reports, two bodies have also been recovered from Shahgund village of Hajin. The two were abducted from their houses located in Gulshan Mohalla of the village in the intervening night of May 4-5.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
