Srinagar: Four Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants were killed on Monday in a gunfight with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, police said.
Upon receiving information about the militants, a search operation was launched in Lassipora village.
“When challenged, the militants opened fire on the security forces triggering the gunfight,” the police said.
Identities of the slain militants was being ascertained. Search Operation still on following the encounter. 2 AK rifles, 1 SLR and 1 pistol recovered initially in the search operation.
A joint team of Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Special Operations Group (SOG) launched a cordon and search operation in Pulwama’s Lassipora on receiving credible inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.
As the joint team approached towards the suspects, the hiding terrorists fired upon security forces.
Three army personnel & one policeman sustained injuries. They have been hospitalized & in a stable condition.
It was a clean operation, no collateral damage happened during the encounter. Arms & ammunition recovered from site of encounter. A case has registered.
