Chandigarh: Ten coaches of the Jammu Tawi-Pune Jhelum Express derailed early at 3:10 am on Tuesday near Sutlej river in Jalandhar.
Three passengers were reportedly injured and rushed to a nearby hospital in Ludhiana. Police and railway officials rushed to the spot. Rescue operations are underway, and the cause of the derailment is yet to be found.
“Ten coaches of Jhelum Express derailed between Phillaur and Ladhowal,” Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Ferozepur Anuj Prakash said today. Railway traffic along the Amritsar Jammu route have been stalled, with seven trains being cancelled and some others diverted.
Passengers have been moved to the next station. Some others moved to Phillaur. Buses have been arranged for those willing to continue with their journey.
