JD (U), RJD to contest in 100 each, Cong in 40 seats in the upcoming Bihar Polls


Patna: Although the dates of the Bihar Assembly polls have not yet been declared, the JD(U) and the RJD will be contesting in 100 seats each while Congress will be contesting in 40 seats in the 243 member Bihar Legislative Assembly. The decision was announced by Bihar CM and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar in a joint press conference with RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav and Congress leader CP Joshi.

Speaking to reporters, Nitish Kumar said, “A consensus has been developed on seat sharing between all three parties (RJD, JD(U) and Congress) of 'Maha gathbandhan'. JD(U) and RJD will contest for 100 seats, and Congress will contest for 40 seats. The parties would hold a Swabhiman Rally in Patna's Gandhi Maidan on August 30.”

Speaking at the Press Conference Lalu Prasad said, “Wherever there are differences, Nitish Kumar and Lalu Yadav will sit together and solve it. We are united and will defeat the BJP.”

Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his speeches against Lalu and Nitish, the RJD chief said that the PM has insulted the people of Bihar and the people will teach him a lesson. Nitish said, “We will keep our promise before the people. PM Modi should tell what he has done in the last 15 months. We will seek the votes from people on the basis of the work we have done."

Congress leader CP Joshi who was also present at the meet said that the Congress leadership will also participate in the upcoming Swabhimaan Rally of the coalition which will be held at Gandhi Maidan.
