Jawan Killer Roams Free, Question on Police Probe

Kolkata: Ambia Sohrab, the son of influential Trinamool leader Muhammad Sohrab, who crashed the Republi Day parade drill and killed an airforce corporal on Wednesday is still at large.

Police after being dormant for the vital hours after the mishap sprang into action after chief minister Mamata Banerjee met the family of the deceased jawan.

However, the cops failed to nab Ambia and said that he had fled to a nearby state. Police sources said that the mobile tower location of Ambia has indicated that he was present in the city yesterday.

The military which is probing the case separately has expressed disgust and questioned the ability of Kolkata police to offer protection on such an important drill.

The army said that had it been a terrorist attack hundreds of jawans would have been killed. It also said that only Ambia was present in the car during the crash.

On the other hand, questions are being raised on police and accusations are flying that the cops are trying to shield Ambia on the direction of the ruling party leadership.
