Tamluk: CPI(M) leaders Tapan Ghosh, Sukur Ali and nine others have been remanded to 14 days of Judicial Custody by Tamluk District Court in connection with a Nandigram case. The duo was arrested by police on November 10 2007 while trafficking a woman and few party cadres in an ambulance.
The duo was released on bail which was rejected by the Calcutta High Court following which they appealed for bail at Tamluk court which was also rejected on Thursday.
The local people caught the duo and handed them over to the police. They were wanted in several murder cases including ‘Chota Angaria’ case where a number of people were hounded and killed mercilessly.
In Nandigram, macabre incidents were occurred and it was alleged that the Tapan-Sukur duo had monitored the whole blood spilling episode. The chilling occurrence even dumbfounded the then Governor of the state Gopal Krishna Gandhi. He described it as ‘Cold Terror’.
