ITBP Constable’s Bag Containing Uniform Stolen From ISBT-17


New Delhi: Acting on a complaint filed by an Indo-Tibetan Border Police(ITBP) constable, wherein he stated that one of his bags containing his uniform was stolen by two youths at ISBT-17 Friday at around 2.30 am, the Chandigarh police have started probing into the matter. A DDR was lodged at ISBT-17 police post. As per initial information provided to the police by ITBP constable Anil Kumar, two motorcycle-borne youths, allegedly snatched his bag near ISBT-17.

Police later concluded that Anil was sleeping at ISBT-17 when two unknown youths stole his bag. The ITBP personnel came from Leh, and was scheduled to go to Delhi. Sub-Inspector Prem Kumar, incharge of PP ISBT-17, said, “Initially, Kumar informed the police that his bag was snatched by two motorcycle-borne youths. We rushed on the spot to verify the allegations, which we found were not genuine. Further verification revealed that Kumar, who came from Leh, was sleeping at ISBT-17 and in the meantime, his bag was stolen. We have lodged a DDR in this regard.”

According to sources, Kumar was not sure that his identity cards and other documents were kept in the bag or not. Later he realized that all the important documents including his identity card was kept in another bag, which was with him. A check was also conducted at ISBT-17 on Saturday morning.
