ISL teams consolidate their squads


New Delhi: Chennaiyin FC is delighted to announce the signing of Brazilian central defender Eder Monteiro Fernandes for the second season of the Hero Indian Super League.Eder, who will turn 32 in September, was last playing for Nea Salamis Famagusta in the topmost league of Cyprus. He spent two seasons with the Cypriot outfit.The Brazilian has spent the majority of his career in his home country with the most notable stint at giants Vasco Da Gama, where he made 79 appearances in two years.

On the other hand, NorthEast United FC on Tuesday announced the signing of 25-year-old Argentinian striker Nicolas Velez for the second edition of Indian Super League football tournament.Former River Plate academy graduate Velez will join the squad after finishing his season with SAF Warriors in the Singapore Super League.Velez struck 28 goals in 31 appearances in SAF Warriors' League triumph last season as he was named in the Singapore Select XI for the recently-concluded Barclays Asia Trophy. Pitting his talent against Premier League sides like Arsenal and Stoke, the Singapore XI forward earned praise from Arsene Wenger who termed his performance "electric".
