Kolkata: There is a possibility of Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba turning out for an Indian Super League (ISL) club this season. A couple of franchises which haven’t decided on their marquee player yet have shown interest in the former Chelsea goal machine.
“The talks are in the initial stages. We are not divulging the name of the franchise right now, but if it finally happens it will be a huge boost for ISL,” a source close to the development told a leading newspaper on Friday. Three franchises – Atletico de Kolkata, Kerala Blasters and Pune City FC – are yet to name their marquee player. “Although Kerala have John Arne Riise in mind, Atletico have spoken to Helder Postiga and Pune City FC are trying to woo Adrian Mutu, the Drogba development can change all the equations,” said the source.
