Ishapore Rifle Factory Smuggling Case: One More Arrested

Ishapore: The Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police on Saturday arrested a man from Ishapore Mayapalli area on the charge of being involved in an arms smuggling racket that was busted in the month of May, the police said.

On Friday evening, STF arrested Prem Chand kurmi from 12-foot road adjacent to Ichapur Mayapalli area. STF has been investigating the arms trafficking for almost a year. Earlier in this incident two people, including high officials of two Rifle Factories, were arrested. Now a lorry driver was arrested from the Ishapore.

STF sources told that, the arms of the Ishapore Rifle Factor were smuggled out in the garbage dump by this lorry. The name of Prem Chand Kormi is known after being questioned by the arrested accused a few months ago. Since then, the STF officials were conducting searches.

Our North 24 Pargana correspondent reached Prem Chand Kurmi’s house of Ichapur. Second wife told our representative that, “My husband was coming back home from market buying flowers, at that time the police took my husband. But we did not know why my husband was arrested. Our lorry was also seized”

Manju Bibi the girl of the accused, said, “My father was innocent, father was betrayed. Although they do not have any proof. There is no contact with father directly with Rifle Factor. My father is not a trafficker of arms “.
