Damascus: ISIS are raking in cash by killing their own militants injured in heavy clashes and selling their organs on the black market, it has been claimed.
The terrorists are using organ harvesting as a way to finance their operations, media reports said today.
The Arabic-language al-Sabah newspaper quoted an unnamed source in the city of Mosul, Iraq, as saying: “Doctors were threatened to take out the body organs of a wounded ISIS militant.”
The jihadist group is also using the body organs of its captives for transplantation, according to Spanish media.
According to the report, they also force prisoners in Mosul jails to donate blood and postpone the execution of those sentenced to death to use their blood.
Medical sources told El Mondo that in one hospital workers have seen corpses of at least 183 people whose organs had been taken out of their bodies.
According to the report, ISIS has set up a medical team in Mosul headed by a German physician which exports the body organs to Syria and the Iraqi Kurdistan region for transplantation to its members or selling.
In 2015 Iraq’s ambassador to the United Nations Mohamed Alhakim told reporters that bodies with surgical incisions and missing kidneys or other body parts have been found in shallow mass graves.
He said: “We have bodies. Come and examine them. “It is clear they are missing certain parts.”
He also said a dozen doctors had been “executed” in Mosul for refusing to participate in organ harvesting.
