Irrigation Minister Examines Flood Situation In Bankura


Bankura: West Bengal Irrigation Minister Soumen Mahapatra on Wednesday stepped in Bankura to navigate the flood condition. He held a meeting with district administration and the public representatives at Circuit House.

There were District Magistrate Dr. Umashankar S, police super Sukhendu Hira, Minister Shyamal Santra, District Chairman Arup Chakraborty, MLA Arup Khan, Head of Bankura Municipality Mahaprasad Sengupta and others officials from irrigation department and administrative officials. He has visited affected Satighat and Junbedia area and others flooded areas of Bankura with the District Magistrate.

State irrigation minister raised a question before media that “It’s surprising how the left-led panchayat in 2005 gave permission to build a house on a brink part in Junbedia.” He assured that he’ll provide a data to Chief Minister describing the loss in Bankura. CM will definitely stand beside the affected. State government has assured money for reforming new bridge.

Dwarakeswar and Gandheswari river will also be reformed within few days. Several unscientific construction have been made in Gandheswari river way. In this context he said, “State will examine the situation.” He also visited the rescue camp in Keshiakol and talked with those who faced damage.
