Quetta: The Iranian border guards fire mortar shells targeting civilian areas in Pakistan near Balochostan’s Panjgur district on Wednesday, reported a leading Pakistani daily dawn.
A Levies official who requested anonymity since he was not authorised to speak to media told Dawn.com via telephone that Iranian forces fired four mortar shells in Soorap area of Panjgur district close to the Iranian border. He said no human loss was reported as a result of the firing.
The mortar shells landed in a deserted area, however, they caused panic among the residents of Soorap, the official said The Levies official said security in the area was tightened in aftermath of the mortar shell attack by Iranian border guards.
The district administration informed the Balochistan Government about border violation by Iranian security forces, he added.
