Pyongyang: North Korea hailed the “beloved” Strategic Force team behind the development of its nuclear programme in state owned newspaper Rodong Sinmun.

The paper wrote: Nukes developed by the communist nation can hit any target on the globe and cannot be tracked due to their speed, the paper boasted.

The claims will alarm US defence analysts who believe North Korea is developing intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) capable of reaching US shores.

The threat comes just days after Trump met with south Korean President Moon Jae-in to discuss the North Korea crisis. In an explosive speech after the meeting, Trump said US patience with the North Korean regime is “over”.

Speaking in the grounds of the White House, he said: “The era of strategic patience with the North Korean regime has failed. “And, frankly, that patience is over.”

Supreme leader Kim Jong-un has conducted five nuclear tests since 2006 and launched around 30 ballistic missiles last year alone.

Trump’s comments show his administration is becoming increasingly frustrated by missile tests. He spoke to President Xi Jinping of China today to appeal for help dealing with the “growing threat” of North Korea.
