Brighton: The Victoria Police have resolved a hostage situation in Brighton by shooting a man dead and rescuing a woman being held against her will inside an apartment in the Melbourne suburb of the city on Monday.
The police is reportedly investigating possible terror links to the siege as the man, which they had gunned down, had called up a local TV newsroom claiming, ‘This is for IS, this is for Al-Qaeda’.

Another man was reportedly found dead in the premises of the apartment, local media reports said.
As per reports, three cops were also injured during the counter siege operation.

A massive explosion was heard in Bay Street, Brighton, and specialist units are investigating the incident. Thirty or forty rounds of gunfire have been heard at the scene of the hostage situation.
