International festival dedicates a section to Indian documentary


Mumbai: Life of Cows which is considered holy in India and ‘hybrid’ English are the two interesting subject that caught the eye of documentary filmmaker. This two interesting subjects will be showcased at the International Documentary Festival this year.

The ‘Made in’ section of the world renowned non-fiction film festival is dedicated to India. The Documentary of Canadian International film festival will be held from April 23 to May 3 at Toronto. Spandan Banerjee’s English India, Parvez Sharma’s A Sinner in Mecca and Panchagavya by Shriya Pilgaonkar will be showcased in the festival. The director of the festival confirmed, “We want to showcase India’s Contribution to cinema. The Nine films to be shown have varied subjects.”

‘A Sinner in Mecca’ by New York-based writer Parvez Sharma is an autobiographical, on how a homosexual person goes to Hajj and films the Kaaba, risking death if caught.
