New Delhi: Amidst the recent confrontation between India and Pakistan over the Commonwealth Parliamentary Meet and repeated cease fire violation by the Pak troops across LOC, Pakistan on Thuesday said that the NSA level talks will be held on August 23.
"I can confirm that I will be going to India on August 23," Sartaj Aziz, adviser on foreign affairs to Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, told a news conference in Islamabad. India has proposed August 23-24 for the meeting between national security advisor Ajit Doval and Sartaj Aziz in New Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif agreed to a new round of talks when they met in Russia last month.
As host nation, India had to propose the dates for the NSA dialogue. As per the statement issued in Ufa, Pakistani NSA Sartaj Aziz was to visit Delhi for a meeting with his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval.
It was Pakistan which had first proposed a dialogue between the NSAs which is meant to focus almost exclusively on terrorism.
