India’s fastest train completes trial run


Agra: The final trial run for the Gatiman Express scheduled to run between Delhi to Agra was completed on Tuesday. It is the first semi high-speed train to run on Indian tracks.

The train covered 195-km journey in 115 minutes, clocking a maximum speed of 160-plus kmph during the trial run . Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to flag off the train, touted to be the country’s fastest, in the second week of June.

Equipped with a 5,400HP electric locomotive and 12 modern coaches, the train, however, arrived 10 minutes late as it was expected to cover the journey in about 105 minutes.
