Indian Journo’s short film makes to the Cannes


Mumbai: A documentary film by an Indian Journalist has taken the film industry by storm. ‘Penile Code’, the 14 minute film directed by 27-Year old Sharat Chandra Bose, is all set to be screened at the Cannes International Film Festival.

‘Penile Code’ focuses on the re-criminalizing of homosexuality under section 377 of the Indian Panel code. The film has been accepted for the 2015 Short Film Corner Category. The Delhi-based journalist says that the film has been shot in a ‘Surrealistic’ method. “The film depicts the life of two urban girls who are in a lesbian relationship living together under various political climates especially during the time of the re-criminalization of homosexuality in India,” says Bose. The film wraps up its story within 14 minutes and 55 minutes and with a minimal budget of Rs 45,000. The International Film Festival has been scheduled between 13-23 May.
