Indian capable of defending itself: Parrikar


New Delhi: Following Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Asif’s statement that Pakistan can use Nuclear weapons for its survival, Indian Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday said that India is capable of defending itself.

Issuing an warning to the neighbouring country, Parrikar said, “I am the defence minister of India. I know my job very well. And, let me tell you that India is capable of defending itself.”

Earlier Pakistan Defense Minister had said, “We should pray that such an option never arises, but if we need to use them (nuclear weapons) for our survival, we will.”

Refusing to comment on China’s support to Pakistan in United Nations over  Lakhvi’s release, he said that the issue is a subject of the Foreign Ministry. Meanwhile Prime Minister Narendra Modi told Chinese President Xi Jinping that it is unacceptable that Beijing is supporting Pakistan in the United Nations over Lakhvi’s release.
