Indian awarded ‘Australian of the Day’

Melbourne: Although not an Australian citizen, Tejender Pal Singh feeds the poor and homeless in Darwin on every weekend. He is a taxi driver by profession. After driving taxi all day, he cooks for the poverty stricken people with his own hands. For his exemplary work, the Commonwealth Bank has conferred him with ‘Australian of the Day’ award.

He said, “I have tried to do something for the homeless so that they can stay happily.” The commonwealth Bank confers the award to the Australian citizens for their exemplary work. But this time no Australian, an Indian has been conferred with the award.
