Indian Army foils infiltration bid at Poonch

Poonch: An infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) has been foiled by the Indian Army in the Mendhar sector of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir inside 300 metres of the Indian Territory.

Colonel Manish Mehta, Indian Army spokesperson in Jammu said that one infiltrator was successfully eliminated at the LoC at Sune Gali in Poonch on Friday at around 8:50 am when army patrol was fired upon by the militants to which the Army retaliated.

A heavy exchange of fire continued and one of the militants were killed.

One AK 47, four magazines, 28 rounds of bullets, two hand grenades and a GPS system was recovered from the encounter spot.

The Army sources said that there were three to four militants who made an infiltration bid under the cover of firing by Pakistani troops in ceasefire violation.
