Chandigarh: Condemning the terror attack in Uri sector in Jammu, Shahi Imam Punjab Maulana Habib-Ur-Rehman Sani Ludhianvi said the Indian government should severe political and diplomatic ties with Pakistan and give a befitting reply to them.
A meeting was held at Jama Masjid in Field Ganj in which tributes were paid to the 17 martyred soldiers.
Speaking on the occasion, Shahi Imam said the successive Pakistani governments had, over the years, been deceiving India, but now it would not be tolerated. He charged Pakistani rulers with being sponsors of terrorism. “We cannot have any peace talks with such a neighbour.”
The attack is an act of cowardice on Pakistan’s part, he added. “Terrorism has no religion. Any individual or organisation that is involved in terrorism should be given a befitting reply.”
Pakistan should know that the Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims and Dalits are united and ready to defend the nation against any nefarious designs, Shahi Imam added. Meanwhile, he demanded a compensation of Rs1 crore each for the martyrs’ families.
