Rio De Janeiro: India finished their group stage with a 2-2 draw against Canada in the men’s hockey competition at the Rio 2016 Olympics on Friday.
Canada came from behind twice to draw the match and deny India three points which would have given them a third place in the group.
After the draw, India are now third in the group with seven points but will slip to fourth if Argentina beat Ireland, a result which seems a possibility.
After the first half ended goalless, India took the lead through Akashdeep Singh when scored on the rebound of penalty corner but Canada qualised 40 seconds later by coverting their penalty corner. If India finish fourth in the group, they will face Belgium in the quarter-finals.
