Kolkata: Fixture Committee has changed the 2nd test match venue following CAB’s request. The match will be held at Eden Gardens from 30 September to 4th October. The New Zealand would play three test and five one day matches against India. The Series have been scheduled from September to October. On Tuesday, the BCCI announced the schedule for test and one day series. At first, it was decided that the third test will be played at Eden Gardens. But a few minutes later they had changed 2nd and 3rd test venue inter-alia, because security is the most important thing during Durga Puja.
The third test match between India vs. New Zealand is scheduled from 8th October to 12th October. And, 8th October is the date of beginning of the Durga Puja, the day of Maha Saptami. So, the Fixture Committee changed the venue of the third test. Instead they choose Eden Gardens as the venue of the second test.
Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) had requested the Fixture Committee to change the venue. They also informed the BCCI that during the Festival people of West Bengal not at all interested to watch any cricket match. The BCCI took this advice justifiably and changed the schedule.
