Kolkata: The inauguration of Kolkata International Book Fair has been postponed. Instead of January 30, it will be held on January 31. It was supposed to end on February 10 but now it will end on February 11 as per the guild.
Like last year, this year too it will be held at Bidhannagar’s Central Park. Last year in 2018, it had started on January 31. This year initially it was decided that it will start on January 30, but now it has been postponed to a day later.
There are two reasons for the postpone. On January 19, Brigade rally is there and for that a huge number of people will stay in this field. Food arrangements for them have been done here too. Hence, cleaning of the field will take time. Since the fair will be of international level, hence the organisers does not want any mistakes to be there.
The guild has spoke to chief minister Mamata Banerjee regarding the postponement.
