‘Improper’ turf makes the teams sweat ahead of Derby

Kolkata: Ahead of the Big Kolkata Derby, the forte of both the teams, Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan is the centre of bother for both the teams. The artificial turf of the Salt Lake stadium is bringing the folds on the foreheads of both the coaches.

The artificial turf has been a cuse of bother for the players for a long time. MB defender Bello Rasaq took up an injury in the practice on Wednesday. It is learnt that Bello twisted his ankle. Although the physio of the theam attended to him immediately, Rasaq was seen in a slight state of bother. Bello’s mild injury will certainly keep the team’s think tank under pressure ahead of the Derby.

If one travels down memory lane, one could remember that East Bengal captain Harmanjot Khabra caught an injury in the last derby. At the time of the ISL even, the world class players and coaches also complained of the improper playing condition.

Accoding to the IFA sources, the turf of Yuva Bharati will be relayed in this year.
