Dhaka: Chief Minister mamata Banerjee, who is on a two day visit to Dhaka, on Saturday assured Bangladesh Prime Minister sheikh Hasina of resolving the Teesta issue while protecting interests of both sides.

According to the Bangladesh Government the Teesta issue was raised by Mamata herself and she also informed Hasina that she expected the Indian Parliament to ratify the Land boundary Agreement.

Mamata urged Bangladesh Prime Minister to lift a ban on the Hisla fish export to India in view of its massive demands particularly in West Bengal to which Hasina told her in a light tone, “If water comes, Hilsa will also go.”

Dhaka has welcomed Banerjee expecting that her visit would bring a solution to the long pending Teesta water agreement and the border issue.
