Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the central ministry would need to look into the matter and form a new iron policy that would in turn benifit the states.”For coal, there is a national policy but for iron-ore there is none,” she said in the presence of union Coal and New and Renewable Energy minister Piyush Goyal. “If you (Goyal) can set up an iron-ore policy then states will be benefited,” she told the union minister.
Goyal and Banerjee were attending the inauguration of coal behemoth Coal India Ltd’s (CIL) new corporate headquarters at Rajarhat near Kolkata.Banerjee said she has already apprised Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the need for an iron-ore policy and appealed to Goyal to formulate one.”Coal and iron are very important,” she said.
Minister Babul Supriyo was also present at the occasion and was seen showering praise on the CM of West Bengal. Babul equated Mamata with the famous theory of relativity of Albert Einstein E=MC^2 where he meant E to be Energy, M to be Mamata and C to be Coal. By making such a statement, he gave Mamata Banerjee the platform where she had played the dominant factor of West Bengal’s development.
