Imphal: A powerful improvised explosive device (IED) weighing around five kg was recovered from the foot of an electric post just 100 meters away from the CRPF Headquarters in Manipur’s capital city Imphal on Sunday.
Locals detected the IED during their morning walk. Bomb squad rushed to the spot and took the IED to a safe place for disposal. Manipur and other north-eastern states have witnessed a massive surge in terror activities recently.
Manipur has been considered a strong hold of Naga insurgent group NSCN. In June 18 army jawans have been ambushed by NSCN-K rebels in Manipur’s Chandel district. The Indian army in retaliation launched a massive hot pursuit inside Myanmar and killed at least 70 militants
