Kolkata: Indian Coast Guard braves save seven fishermen on receipt of SOS call from Trawlers Association Paradip.
The Boat NIRMAN-5 was Adrift 54 NM East of Paradip. The Indian Coast Guard Regional HQ diverted ICGS Sucheta Kripalani on Patrol to carry out extensive search of the missing fishing boat. Aircraft also were presented into action at day break from Bhubaneswar. Coast Guard Dornier located missing 65 NM deep into sea.
On confirmation, ICGS was vectored towards the stranded boat. The fishing Boat NIRMAN-5 carrying seven crew members had gone to the mid sea on 30 Jun for fishing and developed technical snag on its engine rendering it adrift in high seas.
All seven crew of fishing boat are safe and provided with food and other assistance. The entire operation was monitored by Coast Guard Regional Headquarter( North East), Kolkata.
