IAS officer arrested for planning friend’s murder


New Delhi: Delhi Police Crime Branch foiled suspended Haryana cadre IAS officer Sanjeev Kumar’s alleged plan to get his friend killed. Sanjeev Kumar had reportedly made the plan from inside Tihar Jail while he was in judicial custody in connection with the Junior Basic Teachers recruitment scam.

The motive was to kill his close friend with whom 1985 batch IAS officer has a property dispute. To proceed with the plan he planned to get himself injured in the fight in order to get bail.

According to the plan, the blame would then be put on Haryana’s Chautala family for the attack on himself and his friend.

Kumar conspired the plan with gangsters Shoukat Pasha and two shooters Taufiq and Manna.

The Delhi High Court had sustained the conviction of former Haryana chief minister OP Chautala, his son Ajay and 53 others in the JBT scam.

OP Chautala, Ajay and eight others had been awarded 10 years of jail term for illegal recruitment of 3,000 junior teachers in the year 2000.

All of them were held guilty pf cheating, forgery, using fake documents as genuine, conspiracy under IPC and for abusing their official position under Prevention of Corruption Act.
