Barrackpore: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday announced the names of six candidates for by-polls to six Assembly seats of West Bengal.The Bhatpara assembly seat fell vacant after the sitting Arjun Singh quit Trinamool Congress (TMC) to join BJP. He is a four-time TMC MLA from Bhatpara. However, he joined BJP in March as he was denied ticket to contest the Lok Sabha election from Barrackpore.
Pawan Kumar Singh, a businessman and social worker, was a former TMC youth leader in Bhatpara Municipality area. But he also joined BJP after his father joining the saffron brigade. Now his main challenge to win the by-poll to show muscle power in Bhatpara municipality. After announcing his name as a BJP candidate, he reached his house in Bhatpara on Saturday afternoon.
“I have learned politics from my father,” Pawan said to media at Bhatpara’s Majudur Bhaban. He also added that “My inspiration was my grandfather. But He is dead. I tell my little problem to my father. He solved all this things. My Father is a experienced politician.”
Pawan further said, “Opposite candidate is a eminent politician. I would like to go ahead with the development of Bhatpara with the people of the area. I will be campaigning for the development of youth society, development of financial social infrastructure, creating opportunities for new jobs. I will work harder, but people will say the last word. My father will always be with me. I congratulate my opposition candidate. I hope to win this new challenge. “
