Vientiane: Hundreds of people are reported missing and an unknown number believed dead after the collapse of a hydropower dam in Laos, south-eastern Attapeu province, releasing five billion cubic metres of water.
According to sources, the accident happened at a dam in southeastern Attapeu province late Monday which unleashed flash flooding coursing into nearby villages.
Several houses swept away following the dam collapse. Rescue team recahed the spot and help them to provide assistance. It is also reported that this flash floods surging through six villages.
