Houthi Attack kills Indian in Saudi Arabia

New Delhi: A mortar attack by Houthi rebels from Yemen killed one Indian national and injured two others in Jizan Region of Saudi Arabia, Ministry of External Affairs confirmed on Saturday.

The victim has been identified as Panayappilli Farouq, from Kerala’s Ernakulam district. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Vikas Swarup confirmed the same on Twitter. The two injured are Mohd Sadiq from Bihar and Sunny Thomas from Kerala, official sources said today.

Yemen has been facing a civil war-like situation with Shiite rebels clashing with pro-government forces. United Nations estimates that more than 4,500 people have been killed in the conflict since March.
