Holidays in KMC cancelled due to heavy rain forecast

Kolkata: The top officials of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation held an emergency meeting over draining out rain water in the corporation area. Although the sky is clear,  the Meteorological department has forecasted heavy rainfall in the upcoming 48 hours.

Several streets of Kolkata are still waterlogged including Howrah Station, Nimtala Burning Ghat, Thanthania, Muktiram Street, Vidyasagar Street and Salt lake Sector V.

The holidays of Sunday have been cancelled due to the alert of more rains by the Weather Department. All the staff members have been asked to be present at the KMC. Emergency services will be enabled in the next 24 hours.

Mayor Shovan Chatterjee has already held meeting with the Borough engineers via video conferencing. He has assured the water will be drained out soon from the streets of Kolkata.
