Srinagar: The protestors took to streets with the poster of Hizbul Mujahideen and blamed al-Qaeda head Zakir Musa for “helping Indian forces kill Kashmiris”, asking people to “chase him to death” and labelled him as an Indian agent.
The posters had Musa’s pictures and claimed that he, a former Hizbul terrorist, has gotten many innocent people killed at the hands of Indian security forces in exchange for a huge amount of money.
“This traitor is creating different outfits in league with the government. Initially, he was part of Hizb and thereafter, he joined hands with the government of India. He even termed Hurriyat wrong. Therefore, wherever you find him, kill him,” protestors claimed.
Zakir Rashid Bhat, alias Zakir Musa, 23, left Hizbul Mujahideen as its commander in May 2017, as the organisation criticised him for threatening Hurriyat separatist with “public hanging” for referring Kashmir as a “political problem”.
In July, al-Qaeda propaganda channel announced that Musa will be heading the Kashmir-based operations for them.
Global Islamic Media Front, an al-Qaeda online channel, said, “after the heroic martyrdom of Burhan Wani, the jihad in Kashmir has entered a stage of awakening, as the Muslim Nation of Kashmir is committed to carrying the flag of jihad… for this goal, a new movement of jihad has been founded by the companions of martyr Burhan Wani under the leadership of mujahid Zakir Musa.”
Musa questioned the narrative of the separatist in Srinagar and said that they have betrayed the cause of Islam and that he alone has stood up for jihad to establish the rule of Caliphate.
