Washington: In the closest Iowa Democratic caucuses in history, former secretary of state Hillary Clinton narrowly defeated Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. In a statement from the Iowa Democratic Party, officials said Clinton received 699.57 delegates in Monday night’s caucuses. Sanders received 695.49 delegates.
As of early Tuesday morning, results from only one precinct, located in Des Moines, remained unknown. The precinct is worth 2.28 delegates, and mathematically would not change the final outcome in the race. Clinton becomes the first woman in history to win the Iowa caucuses.
