High Voltage Derby dims in a Draw

Kolkata: The much hyped I League Derby between East Bengal and Mohun Bagan ended in a draw. Although, the green and maroons drew first blood through a Pierre Boya header from the corner of Katsumi Yusa, they failed to hold on to the lead. Minutes after the goal, East Bengal’s Nigerian forward, Ranti Martins scored for East Bengal. From a corner kick of Tulunga, Ranti did not make ans mistake in sending the ball in the nets. MB goalkeeper, Debjit Goswami was caught napping infront of Ranti’s class. The first half ended with the score line 1-1.

In the second half, Armando Colaco and Sanjoy Sen both tried out their bench’s strength. Abranches was brought in instead of Khabra by the Goan coach and on the other hand Katsumi was replaced by Manish Bhargav by Sanjoy Sen. Both the teams played equally well but no one could open the dead lock of the goals. Lalrindika Ralte was adjudged Man Of the Match.
