Kolkata: Kolkata Police is undertaking more stringent steps to ensure peaceful election in the city which will be undergoing Civic polls on 18 April. There will be live telecast of sensitive booths inside the Lalbazar control room. The officers of the control room will be directing the police officials on seeing the footage.
Recently a meeting was held at Kalamandir over the security during the elections. Police Commissioner and other top level police officials of the city, District Magistrate of South 24 Parganas, OCs of every police station of the city and representatives of the Election Commission.
The police officials have been given direction to show zero tolerance during the elections. Police should not spare anyone who comes to commit nuisance. If trouble is heard at any place, police team should reach the spot immediately. Video footage will be monitored through web cam.
Three companies of central forces will be reaching the city on Wednesday and more than five thousand state police force. They will be conducting route marches in different parts of the city from Thursday. Sector Mobile and Cluster Mobile will be patrolling the entire city during the elections. Kolkata Police’s ‘Durdanta’ will be flying over the city. The vigilance through air will be done in the sensitive areas.
