Heavy rains disrupts normalcy of Delhi


New Delhi: Heavy rains have continued to lash the northern parts of India including the national Capital of New Delhi and a number of places in Uttarakhand where four people have already lost their lives due to the heavy landslides. Waterlogging has been reported in various parts of the city with reports of traffic snarls also pouring in.

Since Friday evening, Delhi has received nearly 90 mm of rainfall with the meteorological department forecasting more rain in the next couple of days.

The commuters were stuck for a long time during the rush hour of the morning as traffic moved at a snail’s pace in Najafgarh, Dhansa, Chhawla, Nangloi, Delhi Gate, ITO junction, Dhaula Kuan and Naraina.

In Haridwar, the Ganges have started flowing over the danger-line and alert has also been issued to Uttar Pradesh. Landslides in Madkot, Pauri, Dharchula and Kappkot killed four people.
