Heavy Rainfall Predicted, Red Alert Issued

Kolkata: The Alipore MET department has predicted heavy rainfall in the next 48 hours in five districts of North Bengal. As a result, these five districts have been put on red-high alert. However, there can be rainfall in South Bengal over accumulation of clouds locally. The North and East India is also on alert.

Heavy to heavy rainfall has been predicted in Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalingpong, Alipore Duar, Coochbehar and Sikkim. According to the MET office, the tropical rain was over South Bengal in the last two weeks and over Kolkata in the last one week. But presently it has moved to Muzzafarpur and Nagaland. Side by side, it moved from Bihar to Bay of Bengal over WB to Jharkhand and Orissa. This will lead to heavy rainfall in the five districts.

Heavy rainfall is also predicted in Assam, Manipur and Nagaland.

Everyday, 70-200 mm rainfall is predicted. In the last 24 hours, Kolkata’s Alipore received 4.5 rainfall. No rain in Dum Dum.
