Alipur: A TMC activist died on Sunday at a private hospital in Kolkata after he was attacked by goons in Bhangar on Saturday.
Rafiq Mollah, a TMC activist was heavily injured after a group of goons stopped his bike and shot at him from a close range. Heavily injured Rafiq fell to the ground while the goons escaped. The locals rescued him and admitted him to a local hospital in Bhangar. Stating his condition critical, the doctors advised to shift him. He was shifted to a private hospital in Kolkata’s E.M. Bypass. He was shifted to ICU after his condition deteriorated.
Unfortunately, Rafiq succumbed to his injuries and died on Sunday. The doctors said that though the bullets were taken out of his body, but in vain. The bullets had heavily injured several organs of his body. As a result, the doctors failed to keep him alive.
Earlier on the day, Mayor Sovan Chatterjee visited Rafiq. The TMC party lodged a complaint in the Kolkata Leather Complex Police Station. The police have started an investigation on the basis of the local TMC leaders’ complaints to nab the culprits.
